Nikki never cared for Halloween. She disliked wearing costumes and felt it was a holiday for kids to celebrate, not adults. Daniel, however, disagreed with her sentiment. Halloween was his favorite holiday. He enjoyed comic books and fantasy, so a day to dress up in costumes without being mocked was something he looked forward to each year. After weeks of pestering, Nikki finally relented and agreed to attend a costume party with Daniel, although she didn’t care for the costumes he picked out for them. When she waltzed down the stairs dressed as Uhura from Star Trek, Gina laughed hysterically from the couch, but Daniel beamed with pride as Spock. Nikki had become a motherly figure that Stefania hadn’t gotten from her own since she was a toddler. When the breakup occurred, Stefania was simply told to stay in her room. Her father, who was not a candidate for father of the year, didn’t divulge many details, leaving her confused and distraught. Stefania tried to call Nikki for weeks, but the latter felt it was better to have a clean break. Perhaps it was better for Nikki to move on completely, but it sent Stefania into a depression. She still enjoyed her biker clothes, but when she was in the office, it was obvious who the boss was while she was in the room. Nikki also enjoyed spending time with Daniel’s parents, whose wealth opened up opportunities she could take advantage of to increase her own financial interests. She had an increasing desire to involve her family in more high-enterprise business endeavors, including the waste management industry in New Jersey, which was a cash cow. The local union leader -- Jimmy Costanza -- was a friend of Thomas and he happened to attend the family’s Labor Day party, giving Nikki an opportunity to make her pitch. For the event, Nikki opted for a dressy navy blue tank top, tucked into a pair of tight white capri pants, tied together with a
