Nikki did her best to put the Thanksgiving incident behind her, particularly since finals were approaching. Without going to work, she was able to dedicate all of her time to her schoolwork and she felt more confident than ever heading in -- not that she ever had a reason not to be.
On the day of her last exam, Nikki dressed in a white and navy blue striped Ralph Lauren button-up shirt -- left unbuttoned just above her bra to show off her ample breasts and gold necklaces -- with a pair of black leggings, along with her black leather knee-high boots with a stiletto heel over top and her black leather blazer.
Given all the time she had to prepare for the test, Nikki breezed through it and was the first student to finish. She walked out of the building with a sense of confidence and relief. Now she had nearly a month without school. The first thing she did was walk over to a bench that wasn’t covered in snow and sat down.
Nikki sparked a cigarette, putting her black leather gloves on to keep warm, leaned back and crossed her legs as she waited for Erica and Adrianna to finish their exams. Halfway through her cigarette, the doors opened, but it was not one of her friends. Instead, it was Domenic Saracino, a senior football player she recognized from her business class.
Domenic was 6-foot-5 and handsome, but she didn’t know much else about him other than he was a decent player on a team that didn’t win a game in the Ivy League that season and that he was popular with girls at parties.
As he walked toward her, Nikki fully expected him to keep walking since they had never spoken before, but the well-to-do, now ex-football player, stopped in front of her in the middle of an exhale.
“Nicole, right?” Domenic asked.
Nikki nodded in agreement, taking one last drag and flicking her cigarette into the white snow next to the bench.
“You finished that test pretty fast,” Domenic said. “How do you think you did?”
“I did pretty well,” Nikki responded. “I thought it was pretty easy.”
“Well you must be pretty smart,” Domenic said. “People say you’re like a genius or something.”
“Oh yeah?” Nikki laughed. “What else do people say about me?”
“Well they say you’re the person to call for a good time,” Domenic said quietly.
“Hey, if you’re trying to score something, I think you’ve got the wrong girl,” said Nikki, waving her hands in the air.
“No no no,” Domenic stammered. “You asked, I’m just telling.”
Nikki raised her eyebrows in amusement at the large man in front of her, before digging into her purse for another cigarette.
“So how come you never come to any parties?” Domenic asked.
“I’m a busy woman,” Nikki said shortly, freshly lit cigarette bouncing between her lips.
“Busy?” Domenic asked. “What keeps you so busy?”
“Well, I have school, a job and a daughter that I have to take care of,” Nikki said.
“A daughter?” asked Domenic, who was trying to play it cool and delicately. “How old is she?”
“Fifteen,” Nikki said as she took another large drag.
“Fifteen?” Domenic asked with a chuckle. “How old are you? You’re bullshitting me.”
“I’m 20 and she’s my ex-fiance’s daughter,” Nikki said. “I took her in.”
Just as Nikki finished her sentence, Erica and Adrianna walked out. Nikki got off the bench, pushed her full-shield sunglasses from the top of her head to the bridge of her nose. She took a drag on her cigarette and said as smoke flooded from her mouth, “It was nice talking to you. Maybe I’ll see you around.”
Erica and Adrianna approached, with the former lighting a Camel as they walked. Nikki greeted them and as they walked off, Adrianna asked if she had been talking to Domenic Saracino. She said she had been, which grew squeals from the other two girls, who clearly found him attractive. Nikki was quick to remind them she was still in a long-term relationship and that she found Domenic to be disingenuous.

With school temporarily out of the way, Nikki was tempted to go back into work, but she decided to take a week for herself. One of those days was spent the day in the tattoo parlor, touching up the Perrillo Family artwork to expand to the length her rib cage, much to Stefania’s jealousy.
The following night was Stefania’s first basketball game and Nikki was surprised to learn she not only made the varsity squad, but she was the starting point guard. Nikki knew from watching Stefania run and jump around the yard that she had some athletic ability, but not to that level, so she was eager to see her play.
Nikki wore a white and navy blue striped Ralph Lauren button-up shirt -- left unbuttoned just above her bra to show off her ample breasts and gold necklaces -- tucked into a pair of dark blue bootcut jeans, tied together with a thick black leather belt with silver rhinestones and a western buckle, along with her black leather knee-high boots with a stiletto heel underneath and her black leather blazer.
When the game began, Nikki watched like a proud parent. She was impressed with Stefania’s naturally ability, given she had not play competitive basketball since moving to New Jersey. Although, she was also surprised that Stefania was chosen to play point guard, a position in which leadership skills are necessary. While Nikki loved Stefania, she also knew she wasn’t a vocal person and she tended to shy away from physical contact. Still, Nikki could tell the young teenager had a bright future in the sport.
As she was waiting for Stefania to come out of the locker room, several of the parents complimented her on the game and a pair of mothers asked Nikki if she was willing to work the concession stand for the next game. Typically that would have been a task Nikki would have quickly turned down, but she figured it would be best to get on the good side of the other parents since she would be seeing them so frequently in the next few months.
Nikki gave Stefania a big hug when she finally came out and throughout the car ride home, they talked about the game. When they got into the car, Nikki immediately lit a cigarette as usual, but she noticed Stefania waited to light up until they left the school, checking in the rear view mirrors to make sure none of her teammates could potentially see her.
“Still hiding it from your friends?” Nikki asked with a smile, smoke trickling from her mouth as she spoke.
Stefania nodded and Nikki patted her on the leg. After dropping Stefania off at home, Nikki traveled to Daniel’s office, where they were holding a Christmas Party. She had never met any of his work friends or even been to the office before so she was intrigued to meet some of his colleagues.
When Nikki came into the office, she noticed Daniel talking to a familiar face. It was Domenic Saracino. When they separated, Daniel didn’t look very happy. Nikki walked up to him and gave him a kiss before asking, “What’s he doing here?”
“That’s the CEO’s son,” Daniel responded. “He just graduated from college and now he’s my new boss. How do you know him?”
Nikki felt like an idiot because she never put together the fact that Daniel worked for The Saracino Group and Domenic was likely related. She quickly pulled herself together and said, “I just had a class with him. He’s kind of an ass.” Daniel made a face that suggested agreement, but they moved on from the subject.
Nikki hung her leather blazer in the coat room and they began to mingle. Eventually, though, Daniel left her side to go to the bathroom and she ran into Domenic once again. He was a bit shocked to see the Italian beauty from his class once again.
“Nicole!” he exclaimed. “What are you doing here?”
“My boyfriend is one of your employees,” Nikki responded. “It looks like you landed on your feet pretty fast after graduation.”
“Yeah, my dad owns the company so this was always the plan,” Domenic said. “No kid tonight?”
“She’s at home,” Nikki said shortly, knowing he was attempting to find some common on ground to hit on her.
“I never got a chance to ask you what you do for work last week,” Domenic said.
“I own Perrillo’s Bar and Grill,” Nikki responded.
“You own it?” asked Domenic in a surprised tone.
Before Nikki could answer, Daniel returned from the bathroom and he clearly wasn’t welcome in the conversation in Domenic’s eyes when he came back.
“I’m just talking with your boss,” Nikki smiled at him, putting her arm around the small of his back to let Domenic know she was committed to him. It was probably the wrong move, because he clearly noticed and didn’t take it well.
“Didn’t I tell you to get that paperwork done?” Domenic asked him.
“Yes,” Daniel stammered. “But it’s the party and I figured I could just come in tom--”
“I don’t care what’s going on,” snapped Domenic, who was now glaring down at the much shorter man. “I don’t want to come in tomorrow, so you need to go get that done.”
Domenic then said goodbye to Nikki and stomped off to speak with some of the other employees at the party. On one hand, Nikki respected Domenic’s willingness to flash his authority, but she also didn’t care for the fact that he bullied Daniel. She also was upset with Daniel for taking an unnecessary task.
Nikki put her drink down on the table in front of her and put her hands on the rhinestone-adorned belt around her hips, glaring a hole through Daniel.
“Really?” Nikki asked. “Why would you take that shit from him?”
“He’s my boss,” Daniel shrugged. “I have to do what he says.”
“He doesn’t have to speak to you that way,” Nikki said. “Does he always talk to you that way?”
“Pretty much,” Daniel said.
“When are you going to learn to stand up for yourself?” Nikki demanded. “It’s almost 11 o’clock and you’re going to work?”
Daniel didn’t say anything in response. Nikki didn’t continue to rant, in part because she didn’t want to create a scene, but also because she knew part of the reason Domenic scolded him was because Daniel was dating Nikki. Instead, she checked her large gold Rolex and said, “You better get to work. I’ll see you at home.”
Nikki went to get her leather blazer from the closet, bumping into Domenic one last time before leaving. She didn’t stop to chat this time and she could feel him watching her perfectly toned butt sway back and forth in her tight jeans as she walked away. It was more than obvious Domenic wanted Nikki. Daniel, however, had no idea.
